MEDIA LITERACY EXPERT ON DISINFORMATION 
 

Who we are and what we are looking for: 
 

Debunk.org is an independent technology think tank and NGO that specializes in researching disinformation and conducting educational media literacy campaigns. We conduct disinformation analyses in various countries, collaborating with local organizations to foster a more resilient society and a trustworthy media landscape.
 

Currently, we are in the process of developing comprehensive media literacy and training programs focused on countering disinformation. The programs will cover approaches and tactics for recognizing and exposing trolls and bots, detecting and countering hate speech, and provide an introduction to the disinformation (or FIMI - Foreign Information Manipulation and Interference) analyst profession. 
 

We are actively seeking an experienced media literacy expert who can assist the Debunk.org team in developing, piloting, adjusting, and delivering media literacy and training programs. If you have expertise in countering disinformation and are passionate about fostering media literacy, we would be thrilled to collaborate with you.


You will:
 

  • Develop, pilot, adjust, and deliver media literacy and training programs in collaboration with the Debunk.org team.

  • Lead discussions and workshops with stakeholders to gather insights, feedback, and validate the program's content.

  • Participate in live or online training events for students and trainers, as needed. 

  • Contribute ideas and insights on how to establish the long-term sustainability of media literacy and training programs.

 

We hope that:
 

  • You have a Master's or higher academic degree in social or political sciences, communication, journalism, international relations, or a related field. 

  • Your research areas include, but are not limited to media literacy, digital literacy, visual literacy, disinformation and misinformation, media psychology, critical media studies, media and democracy, media transformation, etc.

  • You are an active member of various media literacy expert groups and international organizations. 

  • You are passionate about media literacy and are willing to share your knowledge with the aim of countering disinformation. 

  • You are fluent in English.

 

It’s a bonus if you have:

 

  • You have knowledge of some other Eastern European languages and possess an expansive understanding of the regional political and social landscape in these countries. 

  • You have experience as both an author and co-author of various publications, including peer-reviewed articles, books, and scientific reports. Additionally, you actively participate in international conferences on media literacy topics and / or have extensive scientific experience, such as working with doctoral students, contributing to academic journals, and serving as a member in scientific committees.

We are looking for someone who:
 

  • Is a proficient communicator in English (both verbally and in writing) (IMPORTANT).

  • Has a background in finance/accounting or social sciences/management/HR/law/economics and holds at least a BA diploma.

  • Has experience in finance, accounting, or working as a financial controller on projects (a great plus).

  • Is a task-oriented team player with meticulous attention to detail.

  • Is proactive and able to work independently, with a creative approach to resolving issues.

  • Can manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Is available to work at least 50% of the time in our office based in Vilnius.

We are looking for voice actors in Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, North Macedonia, Poland, Armenia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Georgia, Moldova, Montenegro, Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyz Republic, and Azerbaijan.  
 

The American Spaces Digital Literacy and Training Program (ASDLTP) is a 5-year initiative that will primarily consist of regionally focused efforts, including digital literacy curriculum development, training, and content delivery. The program aims to enhance digital and media literacy skills to counter disinformation efforts in selected regions of Europe and Central Asia. This initiative is targeted for approximately 150 American Spaces in 16 countries.
 

ASDLTP is implemented by PH International in Georgia with two partners, Debunk.org based in Lithuania and the Centre for Strategy and Development (CSD) based in Georgia.

If you are a skilled voice actor with a passion for delivering high-quality work, we would be thrilled to collaborate with you. 
 

You will:
 

  • Have to do the voiceover for four media literacy courses on disinformation in your local language, based on the provided scripts. Each script is up to 50,000 characters, including spaces.
     

Desired Qualifications:
 

  • Experience: at least 2-5 years of professional voice acting experience, particularly in educational, e-learning, or instructional content, with additional experience in TV, radio, or film projects being a plus.

  • Clear and Articulate Speech: excellent diction and clarity, ensuring that the training material is easy to understand.

  • Engaging Tone: the ability to maintain a warm, engaging, and confident tone that keeps learners interested and focused throughout the courses.

  • Versatility in Voice: flexibility to adapt your voice to different tones, emotions, and character roles, if needed, to match various content scenarios or examples.

  • Consistency: The ability to maintain a consistent vocal quality and style across all course modules. 
     

It’s a bonus if you have:

You will:
 

  • Translate four different media literacy courses on disinformation into your local language (in ppt format, up to 50k characters with spaces each).

  • Translate the scripts of four media literacy courses on disinformation into your local language (in word format, up to 50k characters with spaces each).

  • Translate the website where these four courses will be hosted into your local language (up to 10k with spaces). 
     

Desired Qualifications:
 

  • Fluency in both languages: native-level proficiency in the local language and excellent command of English, both written and spoken. 

  • Educational background: a degree in translation, linguistics, English, or a related field.

  • Experience: minimum of 5 years of professional translation experience translating a variety of content types, familiarity with the cultural nuances of both languages. 

  • Attention to detail: strong proofreading and editing skills to ensure accurate and error-free translations and ability to maintain the tone, style, and context of the original content. 

  • Confidentiality and professionalism: commitment to maintaining the confidentiality and integrity of sensitive information, as well as strong work ethic, reliability, and commitment to high-quality work. 

 

It’s a bonus if you have:
 

  • Experience working as a movie translator. 

  • Additional certifications in translation or interpretation (e.g., ATA certification). 

  • Specialised knowledge and expertise in the subject matter relevant to the translation work (translating the material in media literacy and/or disinformation would be a big plus).
